When Aledoy’s Solution Limited reached out to collaborate on a youth-centered climate innovation event, we at Revamp Rave Network didn’t hesitate. The vision was clear: to build a learning space where young people many from frontline communities could explore the possibilities of digital tools in shaping real, local climate solutions.
That vision came to life through Code Green: Youth, Climate & the Digital Future, a flagship program led by Aledoy’s Solution Limited in partnership with Revamp Rave Network, held in Lagos with 30 carefully selected youth changemakers. Unlike the typical climate convening focused on speeches and spotlights, Code Green was built to be deeply participatory. No policy papers. No performative panels. Just a room of young people, digital tools, and a shared sense of urgency.
From the very beginning, we were intentional about rooting this experience in both digital empowerment and climate relevance. In our breakout sessions, participants mapped flooding hotspots in their communities using open data; they prototyped storytelling tools that could make climate education more local and accessible. In one particularly powerful exercise, students co-designed a low-cost mobile tracker to monitor plastic waste in informal settlements, an idea inspired by their lived experiences and frustrations.
Throughout the program, Lu Abikoye, Founder of Aledoy’s Solution Limited, grounded the discussions with clarity and purpose:
“Young people are not just digital natives, they are natural innovators. But they need trust, tools, and community. That’s what Code Green exists to provide.”
This mindset defined the event. As partners, we at Revamp Rave Network brought in our climate storytelling methodology, helped facilitate the community-centered design sessions, and supported participants in articulating their ideas as potential solutions not just reflections of the problems they face.
The results were powerful not because they were flashy, but because they were real:
- 30 youth trained in the basics of climate-tech ideation and digital mapping
- 5 early-stage project ideas emerged with the potential to grow through further mentorship
- Every participant left with a personal action plan, shaped by what they built during the sessions
- A community of practice was born young leaders who now see each other as collaborators in this ongoing journey
What stood out most was the shift in mindset. For many attendees, this was the first time they had seen climate change as something they could engage with beyond protest or policy. With laptops, mobile phones, and simple tools, they began to see themselves as builders of solutions.
And that’s the power of Code Green. It doesn’t position youth as the “leaders of tomorrow.” It treats them as leaders of now leaders whose ideas, when matched with the right support and tech tools, can reshape their communities from the inside out.
As a partner, I am proud that Revamp Rave Network could contribute to this journey. Aledoy’s leadership in organizing this program has set a strong precedent for what tech-driven climate education should look like intimate, hands-on, and deeply human.
We look forward to what’s next. But even more, we look forward to watching these 20 youth take what they’ve started at Code Green and carry it forward in classrooms, neighborhoods, and networks that need their courage and creativity now more than ever.
Because if this program taught us anything, it’s that the future of climate action isn’t waiting. It’s already in motion.
